The Opportunity:
As a Lay Chaplain, you will play a vital role in shaping the spiritual life of a vibrant Catholic school community. This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop the school's chaplaincy provision, supporting pupils in their faith journey and inspiring a culture rooted in prayer, service, and moral purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the prayer and liturgical life of the school
- Support pupils in their spiritual and personal development
- Organise retreats, liturgies, and charitable initiatives
- Collaborate with RE staff, senior leaders, and local clergy
- Act as a visible and approachable presence within the school community
- Promote the Catholic ethos and values throughout the school
- Engage with students, staff, and the wider community in fostering faith and service
- Ensure the chaplaincy programme aligns with the school’s mission and Catholic principles
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A committed and practising Catholic
- Strong understanding of Catholic education and liturgical life
- Ability to engage and inspire young people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organisational and leadership abilities
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral care or youth ministry
- Experience working in a Catholic school or similar environment
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and sacraments
- Experience in leading or supporting chaplaincy provision
