The Opportunity:

As a Lay Chaplain, you will play a vital role in shaping the spiritual life of a vibrant Catholic school community. This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop the school's chaplaincy provision, supporting pupils in their faith journey and inspiring a culture rooted in prayer, service, and moral purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the prayer and liturgical life of the school
  • Support pupils in their spiritual and personal development
  • Organise retreats, liturgies, and charitable initiatives
  • Collaborate with RE staff, senior leaders, and local clergy
  • Act as a visible and approachable presence within the school community
  • Promote the Catholic ethos and values throughout the school
  • Engage with students, staff, and the wider community in fostering faith and service
  • Ensure the chaplaincy programme aligns with the school’s mission and Catholic principles

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A committed and practising Catholic
  • Strong understanding of Catholic education and liturgical life
  • Ability to engage and inspire young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and leadership abilities

Preferred

  • Experience in pastoral care or youth ministry
  • Experience working in a Catholic school or similar environment
  • Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and sacraments
  • Experience in leading or supporting chaplaincy provision
