The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Lecturer in Construction (Carpentry and Joinery – Multi-Skilled) to deliver high-quality teaching and support learners in developing practical skills. This role offers the chance to shape the next generation of construction professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop practical skills through demonstrations and instruction in realistic working environments.
- Assess learners using identified frameworks and keep accurate records of their progress.
- Deliver engaging and innovative lessons that align with industry standards.
- Support learners in gaining qualifications and preparing for future careers in construction.
- Collaborate with industry professionals to ensure curricula remain current and relevant.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the learning environment.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to learners to enhance their confidence and employability.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Higher level qualification (Level 3 or above) in a relevant discipline.
- Assessor qualification (TAQA/A1 or equivalent) or commitment to obtain it.
- Verifier award or commitment to work towards it.
- Experience in multi-skilled carpentry and joinery.
- Proven experience in the construction industry.
- Up-to-date occupational experience.
- Enhanced DBS check.
Preferred
- PGCE or commitment to obtain it.
- Experience in teaching or a desire to transition from industry into education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary ranging from £28,997 to £43,748 per annum.
- Generous pension scheme with employer contributions (28.68% for TPS and 21% for LGPS).
