The Opportunity:

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting learners across the campus, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with young people and wants to contribute to a supportive and inclusive community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high visibility across the campus, communicating effectively with learners and promoting positive behaviours;
  • Support learners as a member of the Be-Safe team, under the supervision of designated safeguarding leads;
  • Be present at campus barriers to assist with learner arrivals;
  • Act as a first aider, providing support where required;
  • Hold focus groups with learners to gather feedback on their experience;
  • Encourage positive behaviour among learners in all areas of the institution;
  • Liaise with other staff and departments to respond to learners' requests for help and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant discipline;
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in Maths and English (or equivalent);
  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people (16-18 years) and adult learners;
  • Experience working with groups and/or individuals in a supportive environment;
  • Current, valid driving licence;
  • Enhanced DBS check.

Preferred

  • Experience in a student support or similar role;
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and welfare procedures;
  • First Aid training or willingness to undertake it;
  • Experience with equality and diversity initiatives.
