Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the school library, ensuring resources are up to date and accessible.
  • Support students, teachers, and staff in accessing information and resources that enhance learning.
  • Promote reading and literacy through engaging activities and events.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
  • Assist in the organisation of school events and activities that align with the school’s leadership and academic goals.
  • Ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all users of the library.
  • Keep detailed records of library usage and resource management.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in developing research and information literacy skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A NVQ Level 1/Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE standard or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in an administrative or reception role.
  • Experience of working within an educational environment.
  • The ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
  • The ability to prioritise, work quickly and accurately, particularly under pressure and to deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school library or similar educational support role.
  • Knowledge of library management systems.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience in promoting reading and literacy initiatives.
