Life Skills Lecturer opportunity at a specialist college for autistic young people.

The Opportunity:

As a Life Skills Lecturer, you will play a key role in empowering learners to develop the confidence and skills needed for independent living. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of autistic young people and support them in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging Life Skills teaching for learners working at Pre-Entry and Entry Level 1
  • Support learners in developing independence, communication, and emotional wellbeing
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with learners and adapt teaching to meet individual needs
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Help learners set and achieve personal, social, and educational goals
  • Prepare learners for life beyond college, including employment and further education
  • Collaborate with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality support
  • Contribute to a reflective and supportive staff culture focused on continuous improvement

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching Life Skills curriculum at Pre-Entry and/or Entry Level 1
  • Experience working with autistic learners and young people with additional learning needs
  • Ability to personalise learning approaches and adapt to individual needs
  • Understanding of communication, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour support
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting learners to achieve their goals

Preferred

  • Experience with the Ambitious Approach to education
  • Experience in creating and delivering community-based learning opportunities
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with the person-centred approach to education
