The Opportunity:
As a Life Skills Lecturer, you will play a key role in empowering learners to develop the confidence and skills needed for independent living. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of autistic young people and support them in achieving their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging Life Skills teaching for learners working at Pre-Entry and Entry Level 1
- Support learners in developing independence, communication, and emotional wellbeing
- Build strong, trusting relationships with learners and adapt teaching to meet individual needs
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Help learners set and achieve personal, social, and educational goals
- Prepare learners for life beyond college, including employment and further education
- Collaborate with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality support
- Contribute to a reflective and supportive staff culture focused on continuous improvement
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching Life Skills curriculum at Pre-Entry and/or Entry Level 1
- Experience working with autistic learners and young people with additional learning needs
- Ability to personalise learning approaches and adapt to individual needs
- Understanding of communication, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour support
- Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues
- Commitment to inclusive education and supporting learners to achieve their goals
Preferred
- Experience with the Ambitious Approach to education
- Experience in creating and delivering community-based learning opportunities
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with the person-centred approach to education
