The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality A Level Sociology lessons using the AQA specification.
  • Support students in achieving outstanding results and preparing for university or further study.
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues to develop and share teaching resources.
  • Participate in weekly department meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Mentor and support Early Careers Teachers (ECTs) as required.
  • Engage in the school’s wider community through extra-curricular activities and student support.
  • Maintain accurate records and assess student progress effectively.
  • Attend staff training and professional development sessions regularly.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Sociology or a related subject.
  • Commitment to providing excellent teaching and learning experiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and support student achievement.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to take on a mentoring role for ECTs.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching A Level Sociology.
  • Background in sixth form education.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and curriculum development.
  • Experience with extra-curricular activities and student leadership.
