The Opportunity:

As a Meal Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring a positive and engaging lunchtime experience for children. You will support their well-being through encouraging healthy eating, organizing fun activities, and working as part of a dedicated team of staff and teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children during lunchtimes in the lunch hall and playgrounds
  • Promote healthy eating habits and model positive behavior
  • Lead fun and engaging play activities to support children’s social and emotional development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure the well-being of all pupils
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all children during meal times
  • Manage the physical aspects of the lunchtime environment, including moving and handling tables and chairs
  • Support safeguarding procedures and remain calm in emergency situations
  • Be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience of working with children (paid or voluntary)
  • Good literacy skills
  • Ability to lead play activities and manage groups of children
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or support role
  • Knowledge of child development and inclusive practices
  • Experience with mealtime supervision or similar roles
