The Opportunity:

As a Part Time Meal Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the well-being and enjoyment of children during lunchtimes. You will support the school’s mission by promoting healthy eating, encouraging positive social interactions, and leading engaging play activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children during lunchtimes in the lunch hall and playgrounds.
  • Encourage healthy eating habits and model positive behavior.
  • Lead fun and educational play activities that support children’s development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Assist with the setup and management of lunchtime spaces, including moving and handling tables and chairs.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children, remaining calm and composed in emergencies.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to support learning and development.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience of working with children, either paid or voluntary.
  • Strong literacy and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and engage children in play activities.
  • Physical stamina to manage the demands of the role, including moving furniture.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Knowledge of child development and play-based learning.
  • Experience with mealtime supervision or similar roles.
