The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Modern Foreign Languages Subject Lead to lead our high-performing MFL department. This role offers the opportunity to drive curriculum development, inspire students, and enhance the profile of language learning across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a dedicated team of MFL specialists, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and innovative MFL curriculum to meet the needs of students at all key stages
  • Promote and expand student participation in MFL subjects at both GCSE and A Level
  • Deliver Spanish and French lessons at Key Stage 3 and teach at least one language up to Key Stage 5
  • Support and lead professional development initiatives within the department
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to raise the profile and impact of MFL
  • Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives and events that promote language learning
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continued improvement in outcomes

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Modern Foreign Languages
  • Proven leadership experience or strong potential for leadership within a school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge in Spanish and French
  • Experience of teaching at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 5
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching practices

Preferred

  • Experience of curriculum development and implementation
  • Involvement in extracurricular language activities or exchanges
  • Familiarity with the latest research and trends in language teaching
  • Experience in driving student engagement and achievement in MFL
