The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Modern Foreign Languages Subject Lead to lead our high-performing MFL department. This role offers the opportunity to drive curriculum development, inspire students, and enhance the profile of language learning across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a dedicated team of MFL specialists, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
- Develop and implement a dynamic and innovative MFL curriculum to meet the needs of students at all key stages
- Promote and expand student participation in MFL subjects at both GCSE and A Level
- Deliver Spanish and French lessons at Key Stage 3 and teach at least one language up to Key Stage 5
- Support and lead professional development initiatives within the department
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to raise the profile and impact of MFL
- Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives and events that promote language learning
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continued improvement in outcomes
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Modern Foreign Languages
- Proven leadership experience or strong potential for leadership within a school setting
- Strong subject knowledge in Spanish and French
- Experience of teaching at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 5
- Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching practices
Preferred
- Experience of curriculum development and implementation
- Involvement in extracurricular language activities or exchanges
- Familiarity with the latest research and trends in language teaching
- Experience in driving student engagement and achievement in MFL
