The Opportunity:

A Senior German Teacher is needed to lead small-group conversation sessions and support language learning for students in years 10 to 13. This role offers a chance to inspire enthusiasm for German and improve fluency, while working with a strong and experienced department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct small-group German conversation sessions with students from years 10 to 13.
  • Support whole-class teaching when required, ensuring engaging and effective language instruction.
  • Foster enthusiasm for the German language and cultural understanding.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of German and other German teachers.
  • Develop and deliver content that brings the language to life and enhances student confidence.
  • Stay current with Germanic culture and international news to enrich teaching.
  • Contribute to the school’s strong academic outcomes in languages.
  • Support students in preparing for language examinations and assessments.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Native-speaker-level German with very good English.
  • Strong knowledge of Germanic culture and current affairs.
  • Experience in teaching or assisting with language instruction.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and support student learning outcomes.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with teaching students aged 10 to 18.
  • Familiarity with UK curriculum standards for language education.
  • Interest in pursuing a future career in teaching or returning to the profession.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of £25 - £30, depending on experience.
