The Opportunity:
As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of young children aged 2 to 4 years old. You will contribute to creating a stimulating and caring learning environment, while working closely with parents and the teaching team to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and providing a caring and stimulating environment for the children.
- Observing and assessing children’s development and keeping accurate records.
- Working as part of a team to support the learning and development of young children.
- Encouraging learning and development through play and teaching.
- Creating a secure environment that fosters curiosity and imagination.
- Building positive relationships with parents and carers to support children’s learning and well-being.
- Enabling children to build their literacy, language and numeracy skills.
- Monitoring progress and planning educational activities and games.
- Designing engaging activities to keep children motivated throughout the day.
- Supporting children in preparing for the transition into a classroom environment.
- Encouraging independence in children when carrying out daily tasks.
- Ensuring a balanced approach between structured learning and free play.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 3 qualification or above in Childcare or equivalent.
- Understanding of child safeguarding and a commitment to child welfare and safety.
Preferred
- Experience working in an early years setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
- Experience with supporting children’s transition to formal learning environments.
