The Opportunity:

As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting young learners during lunch breaks and throughout the school day. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children and contributing to a nurturing and inspiring educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils during lunch breaks, including assisting with eating and maintaining a positive environment.
  • Help set up and tidy up lunch areas, ensuring a clean and welcoming space.
  • Assist the class teacher with classroom activities and general support during the school day.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents as needed.
  • Follow all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities provided by the school.
  • Encourage and support the social and emotional development of nursery pupils.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young children in a school or nursery setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the Head of the Nursery.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work flexible hours.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a Nursery or Early Years setting.
  • Experience with child protection screening and background checks.
  • Knowledge of early years education frameworks.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours if required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate starting from £13.39 (based on experience and qualifications).
  • Part-time, term-time only position with potential for extended hours.
  • Fixed-term contract until 2nd July 2026.
