The Opportunity:

A Part Time Music Teacher is needed to support communication, engagement and emotional regulation through music. This role requires a teacher who can use music as a vehicle for learning and development across all pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive music provision across a range of developmental stages
  • Adapt music teaching to meet the needs of learners with complex needs, including those who are pre-verbal or have sensory processing differences
  • Use music to support communication, interaction and emotional regulation
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of a sequenced, pathway-aligned music curriculum
  • Work closely with class teams, therapists and leaders to ensure consistency and impact
  • Support learners in achieving meaningful progress through music-based activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to refine and improve music curriculum delivery
  • Ensure all music sessions are engaging, safe and tailored to individual learner needs

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience teaching music within an educational setting
  • Ability to play one or more musical instruments to a strong standard
  • Understanding of how to use music as a tool for learning and development
  • Commitment to supporting learners with complex needs
  • Ability to translate curriculum intent into clear learning intentions

Preferred

  • Experience working in a special educational setting
  • Experience with learners who have autism or sensory processing differences
  • Background in special educational needs or inclusive teaching practices
  • Experience with curriculum development in a specialist setting
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
