The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Administrator, you will play a key role in supporting student wellbeing and fostering a positive, inclusive environment. This position is essential to the school’s mission of delivering excellent pastoral care and ensuring students receive the emotional and academic support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the Wellbeing Room, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students.
- Act as the first point of contact for students requiring emotional support and provide timely, empathetic assistance.
- Implement proactive wellbeing initiatives across the school to promote mental health and resilience.
- Coordinate and manage external counselling services in partnership with external providers.
- Serve as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring the safe and confidential handling of sensitive student information.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with parents and guardians regarding student wellbeing and safeguarding concerns.
- Provide high-level administrative support to the wider pastoral team, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Facilitate collaboration between pastoral staff, teaching teams, and external partners to enhance student support.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral or wellbeing-related role, ideally within an educational setting.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- High level of discretion and professionalism, particularly when dealing with sensitive student information.
- Experience in safeguarding and child protection, including knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and a genuine interest in supporting students’ emotional and academic development.
Preferred
- Experience in a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) role or similar position.
- Knowledge of wellbeing initiatives and strategies for promoting student mental health.
- Experience working in a school or educational institution with a strong academic ethos.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary of £25,443 (actual salary).
- Term-time only position with an additional 10 days of annual leave.
