The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting student well-being and behavior, working closely with the pastoral lead and senior leadership team to create a positive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all pastoral duties under the direction of the pastoral lead and senior leadership team.
  • Support staff and students in restorative practices and run student intervention sessions to reduce repeat behaviors.
  • Deliver intervention sessions and support academic progress in the re-set and reflection room.
  • Collect and interview pupils as directed, completing relevant documentation and uploading to CPOMS or other systems.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies by telephone, email, or in person.
  • Complete on-call periods to support behavior hotspots, cover supervisor checks, uniform checks, and N code reports.
  • Promote positive behavior through the whole school rewards system.
  • Attend daily pastoral briefings to discuss and plan for the day ahead or address behavior issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently under pressure.
  • Commitment to Christian values and student development.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting.

Preferred

  • Experience in pastoral or student support roles.
  • Knowledge of restorative practices and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience with CPOMS or similar systems.
  • Background in education or youth work.
