The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting student behaviour and well-being, working closely with the Deputy Headteacher – Behaviour & Welfare. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on student progress and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support student behaviour across Key Stage 3 or 4, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, students, teachers, and other stakeholders to address concerns and support student well-being.
  • Act as a key point of contact for pastoral issues, providing timely and effective solutions to emerging situations.
  • Promote and uphold the school’s ethos, values, and community spirit through consistent and proactive engagement.
  • Support the Deputy Headteacher – Behaviour & Welfare in the development and implementation of pastoral policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being, using data to inform decisions and interventions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to ensure a coordinated approach to student support and development.
  • Participate in the appraisal and professional development of staff, contributing to their growth and effectiveness.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience of working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve challenging situations effectively.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos, values, and community.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student support, with a focus on behaviour and well-being.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior pastoral or leadership role within a school setting.
  • Experience with pastoral systems and behaviour management strategies.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and staff appraisal processes.
  • Familiarity with the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools and its values.
