The Opportunity:

As a SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with special educational needs and ensuring that the school's provision meets the needs of all learners. This is an opportunity to work within a supportive team and make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the school’s SENCO team and support staff, ensuring effective provision for all students.
  • Liaise regularly with parents through EHCP review meetings and provide guidance on student progress and development.
  • Oversee and deliver regular training to Learning Support Assistants and provide CPD for teaching staff on SEND strategies.
  • Ensure that all areas of provision are in place and effective, in line with EHCP outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head – SEND and Inclusion to implement and review the school’s SEND policy.
  • Support the development of inclusive teaching practices across the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of provision on student outcomes.
  • Contribute to the Middle Leadership Team and be involved in all aspects of school life.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified or aspiring SENCO with experience in special educational needs and inclusion.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience working with students with EHCPs and managing a team.
  • Knowledge of SEND strategies and quality first teaching.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with parents and staff.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school setting.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment practices.
  • Experience with CPD delivery and staff training.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education and pastoral care.
