The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Mentor, you will provide essential support to students during a maternity cover period, ensuring their wellbeing and academic progress. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people within a supportive and mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with pastoral care and guidance, ensuring they feel safe and valued.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and other mentors to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and address student behaviour, providing timely interventions when needed.
- Deliver targeted support and mentoring to students, helping them navigate academic and personal challenges.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to enhance school culture.
- Contribute to the development of school policies and practices that support student wellbeing.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral or mentoring role within an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to student welfare and inclusive practices.
- Experience working with students aged 11-16.
Preferred
- Experience in a school environment with a focus on pastoral care.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Familiarity with the values and mission of a high-performing academy.
- Experience in supporting students during transitions or periods of change.
