The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Mentor, you will provide essential support to students during a maternity cover period, ensuring their wellbeing and academic progress. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people within a supportive and mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with pastoral care and guidance, ensuring they feel safe and valued.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other mentors to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and address student behaviour, providing timely interventions when needed.
  • Deliver targeted support and mentoring to students, helping them navigate academic and personal challenges.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to enhance school culture.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and practices that support student wellbeing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or mentoring role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to student welfare and inclusive practices.
  • Experience working with students aged 11-16.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school environment with a focus on pastoral care.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Familiarity with the values and mission of a high-performing academy.
  • Experience in supporting students during transitions or periods of change.
