The Opportunity:
As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will provide essential support to students facing behavioral or attendance challenges, working closely with teaching staff and families to ensure every student can thrive. This role is pivotal in fostering a positive learning environment and supporting student growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with challenging behavior and low attendance through targeted interventions and regular engagement with teaching staff.
- Maintain a presence in lessons and pastoral settings to assist staff and students in real time.
- Communicate regularly with parents, conduct home visits, and deliver workshops to promote positive behavior at home.
- Collaborate with external agencies to provide comprehensive support for students and families.
- Work autonomously and take initiative in developing strategies that improve student outcomes and engagement.
- Build strong, empathetic relationships with students, families, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Contribute to the school’s mission by upholding values of respect, integrity, and kindness in all interactions.
- Monitor and report on student progress and attendance, providing regular updates to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience working with young people, preferably in a school or similar setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students and families.
- High level of organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Commitment to the school’s mission and values, including a focus on student well-being and academic success.
- Experience working with external agencies that support vulnerable young people and families.
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral care or student support roles within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies and attendance improvement techniques.
- Experience with coaching or mentoring students or colleagues.
- Familiarity with GLF Schools or similar multi-academy trusts.
