The Opportunity:
As a Security Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a vital position that supports the school’s mission to provide a safe and positive learning experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and security of all individuals on campus through effective risk management and emergency preparedness.
- Oversee the operation of access control systems, CCTV, and campus patrols to maintain a secure environment.
- Provide excellent customer service and create a friendly, professional, and inclusive atmosphere at all key entry points.
- Manage incident reporting and ensure all security protocols are followed consistently.
- Support compliance with Martyn’s Law (Protect Duty) by developing and maintaining appropriate security plans and training staff.
- Lead and motivate the Welcome and Security teams to deliver high standards of service and safety.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Estates, Safeguarding, and external partners, to ensure smooth and safe operations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of college events and open days.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in security or front-of-house operations in a busy environment.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Knowledge of Martyn’s Law (Protect Duty) or willingness to undergo training.
Preferred
- Relevant security qualifications such as SIA, first aid, or emergency planning.
- Experience in risk management or incident response.
- Background in education or customer service.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: £29,390 to £33,602 per annum (pro-rata for part-time roles).
