The Opportunity:

As a PE Teacher with Sports Specialism, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality Physical Education and supporting teaching in Child Development and Health & Social Care. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and ambitious PE department that promotes student engagement, leadership, and a lifelong love of sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging Physical Education lessons across the full age range (Year 7 to Year 11)
  • Support the teaching of Child Development and Health & Social Care within the wider curriculum
  • Lead and develop extra-curricular sports activities for all abilities
  • Promote student participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and other cross-curricular initiatives
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and lesson observations
  • Participate in departmental meetings, examination marking, and administrative tasks
  • Uphold and promote the school’s policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or equivalent experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the 11–16 PE curriculum up to GCSE
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver inspiring and informative lessons to a wide range of students
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding requirements and good practice
  • Good level of IT literacy

Preferred

  • Degree in a related subject (e.g., Sports Science, Physical Education)
  • Experience in developing and leading extra-curricular sports activities
  • Experience with teaching Child Development and Health & Social Care
  • Experience with the Duke of Edinburgh Award or similar programmes
  • Experience working with students with hearing impairments or in inclusive learning environments
