The Opportunity:
As a Performing Arts Technician, you will be responsible for delivering professional technical support for theatre, music, and dance performances and events. This role is essential in ensuring that every production runs smoothly and meets the high standards expected by a school community that values creativity and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain technical resources for all performance and event activities.
- Operate and program lighting and sound consoles for productions.
- Oversee rigging, de-rigging, and setup of staging, seating, and AV equipment.
- Coordinate get-ins and get-outs for performances and events.
- Provide administrative support to the Drama and Music Departments.
- Maintain and organize backstage areas, including dressing rooms and control boxes.
- Ensure all equipment and workspaces are clean, safe, and in good order.
- Support event management, bookings, and scheduling as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Training or a qualification in technical theatre.
- Sound knowledge of theatre equipment and processes.
- Experience operating and programming lighting and sound consoles.
- Awareness of current health and safety regulations.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative.
- Familiarity with AV and stage management software.
