The Opportunity:

As a Peripatetic Brass Teacher, you will play a key role in inspiring and developing students across a range of abilities. You will teach a brass group and support the Rare Instrument Scheme, helping students explore and grow as musicians. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people’s musical journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a brass group as part of the school’s co-curricular programme.
  • Support the Rare Instrument Scheme and assist music teachers in its delivery.
  • Provide individualised instruction to students from beginner to diploma level.
  • Encourage and motivate students to develop their musical talents and confidence.
  • Collaborate with other music staff to enhance the school’s music programme.
  • Develop and implement engaging and effective teaching strategies.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and student progress.
  • Offer a second instrument where possible to support student development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching brass instruments to students of all levels.
  • Strong musical ability and performance experience in brass.
  • Commitment to student development and high-quality teaching.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Rare Instrument Scheme or similar initiatives.
  • Experience in teaching students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of music theory and performance practices.
  • Experience with curriculum development and delivery.
