The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated Peripatetic Violin and Viola Teacher to join a school in Cambridge. This role involves teaching individual students and inspiring a lifelong love of music. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing students’ musical skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach violin and/or viola to individual students as required.
  • Encourage students to develop musical knowledge, self-discipline, and social skills.
  • Plan and maintain accurate records of lessons, pupil progress, and attendance.
  • Write comprehensive pupil reports and provide advice on suitable repertoire and teaching materials.
  • Support students in preparing for music examinations and performances.
  • Advise students and parents on the appropriate choice and purchase of instruments and accessories.
  • Promote participation in musical activities such as choirs, ensembles, and competitions.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong teaching experience in violin and/or viola.
  • Ability to teach individual students effectively.
  • Knowledge of music examination requirements and preparation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching both violin and viola.
  • Familiarity with The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or Trinity College examinations.
  • Experience in preparing students for performances and recitals.
  • Ability to advise on instrument selection and musical resources.
