The Rowing Coach - Gap Year role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of young rowers and gain valuable coaching experience. This position is ideal for those looking to build their coaching career while working with a high-achieving boat club that has a strong track record in national competitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver rowing coaching sessions for younger rowers.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and proper development of all students under supervision.
- Collaborate with other coaches to support the overall success of the boat club.
- Participate in local and national events, providing support to crews across different age groups.
- Maintain a high standard of coaching practice and communication with parents and students.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of training programs aligned with the school’s goals.
- Support the integration of new rowers into the club culture and structure.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the coaching schedule.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong passion for rowing and a deep understanding of the sport.
- Ability to work with young people and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality coaching sessions.
- Experience or interest in coaching at a junior level.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
Preferred
- Prior experience in coaching or working with young athletes.
- Knowledge of rowing techniques and safety protocols.
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Awareness of the importance of teamwork and collaboration in a high-performing environment.
