The Opportunity:

As a Phase Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of students by leading teaching and learning across a key stage. This role offers the chance to influence curriculum development, support staff, and drive continuous improvement within a dynamic and inclusive school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee teaching, learning, and assessment across the phase to ensure the highest standards of education.
  • Develop and manage a clear vision for the curriculum area, working closely with subject leaders and class teachers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, working with the leadership team to raise attainment across the phase.
  • Analyse pupil progress and attainment data regularly, and discuss findings with phase members.
  • Establish strong working relationships with staff, encouraging good practices and providing support and leadership.
  • Lead and motivate support staff within the key stage, ensuring effective collaboration and high standards.
  • Oversee the organisation and management of the phase, including chairing meetings and ensuring school policies are implemented.
  • Monitor behaviour across the phase and support the Inclusion Lead in planning for LSAs to enhance pupil progress.
  • Ensure continuity and progression across phases by liaising with other phase leaders.
  • Support the induction of new staff members within the phase, promoting a culture of professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in primary education.
  • Experience in leading a team and managing a curriculum area.
  • Strong understanding of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate teaching standards and pupil progress.
  • Experience in school improvement planning and self-review processes.
  • Commitment to the DfE Teachers’ Standards.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a phase or key stage.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational structure.
  • Experience with inclusion strategies and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
