The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Premises Maintenance Assistant to support the school in maintaining and enhancing its facilities. This role is essential to ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students and staff. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth operation of the school’s premises through practical maintenance and repair work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair school buildings, including joinery, plumbing, painting, and decorating.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all work areas.
  • Work flexible hours including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Support the school during events such as open days and college functions.
  • Assist with general maintenance tasks to ensure the school environment is always in good condition.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance work carried out.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a secure working environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in joinery, plumbing, building, and painting in a practical setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in educational and work environments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
  • Commitment to working 52 weeks per year with a generous holiday entitlement.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in premises maintenance or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and standards.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems or software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary of £25,159.00 per year (36.15 hours per week).
