The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Premises Officer to ensure the security, safety, and maintenance of our school buildings and grounds. This role is essential in supporting the smooth running of the school and maintaining a high standard of care for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage site security, including key-holding duties, security systems, and participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • Undertake minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as plumbing, carpentry, and redecoration.
  • Conduct and record regular inspections of fire alarms, security systems, and water management to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with the setup and set-down of furniture and equipment for school events, including exams, concerts, and assemblies.
  • Maintain the external site, including litter picking, snow removal, and ensuring cleanliness to agreed standards.
  • Supervise external contractors on-site to ensure works are carried out safely and efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in a school or maintenance setting.
  • Competence in basic trade skills such as plumbing or DIY.
  • A proactive approach to safeguarding policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to interact with pupils, staff, and parents in a kind and courteous manner.

Preferred

  • Experience with fire alarm and security system maintenance.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Experience in managing contractor relationships and site inspections.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £29,436 - £31,158 per annum (Grade D), with significant overtime opportunities.
  • 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year with a variable shift pattern.
