The Opportunity:

As a Prep School SENDCo and Learning Support Teacher, you will lead the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision and deliver classroom teaching. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives while contributing to the strategic development of the Learning Support Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Prep School’s SEND provision, ensuring it meets the needs of all students.
  • Deliver high-quality classroom teaching to support students with additional needs.
  • Liaise regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a coordinated approach to learning support.
  • Work closely with the Head of Learning Support, deputising when required and contributing to the strategic direction of the department.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote inclusive practices across the school and contribute to staff training and development.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in SEND provision.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a learning support department.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in classroom teaching with a focus on inclusion and differentiation.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a co-educational independent school setting.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and SEND frameworks.
  • Experience with curriculum development and staff training.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and inclusive teaching strategies.
