The Opportunity:

As a Primary Librarian, you will be responsible for creating a stimulating and welcoming library environment that encourages a lifelong love of reading and learning. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and committed to supporting the academic and personal development of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a dynamic library program that promotes reading, research, and independent learning.
  • Manage and maintain a well-organized and up-to-date library collection aligned with the English National Curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support student learning.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and staff on library policies, research techniques, and digital literacy.
  • Promote reading and library usage through engaging events, displays, and activities.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment that supports the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Stay current with innovative practices in education and library science to enhance the learning experience.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through participation in events, committees, and community activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A B.Ed or BA degree in Library Science.
  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Proficient in the use of ICT and library management systems.

Preferred

  • Experience in fostering a caring and supportive learning environment.
  • A proven track record in creating engaging and inclusive library programs.
  • Experience in working within a British curriculum school.
  • Passion for education and student well-being.
  • Experience in supporting the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities.
