The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Primary School Teacher to join a school at the beginning of its journey. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), particularly those on the autism spectrum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning tailored to students with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to support student progress and well-being.
  • Develop and implement short, medium, and long-term curriculum plans that meet individual needs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, setting and reviewing personalised learning targets.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
  • Provide clear, structured lessons that maintain pace, motivation, and challenge.
  • Stay informed on current issues in autism education to support effective teaching strategies.
  • Manage challenging behaviours in line with school policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience in special school settings, particularly with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Proven ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum
  • Working understanding of ASC and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Preferred

  • Additional qualifications in SEND
  • Experience in curriculum development for learners with SEND, especially those with autism
  • Understanding of co-occurring conditions associated with autism and their impact on learning
