The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality science lessons to students across all key stages, using innovative and engaging teaching methods.
  • Prepare and implement detailed lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum and examination specifications.
  • Assess student progress through a range of formative and summative assessments, including practical investigations and unit tests.
  • Support students in achieving their full potential, with a focus on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of science teaching and learning.
  • Stay up to date with developments in science education and incorporate new resources and technologies into teaching.
  • Encourage student participation in science competitions and enrichment activities.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students where appropriate.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS and relevant subject knowledge in science.
  • Experience of teaching science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ideally with GCSE or A Level qualifications.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take on leadership responsibilities when required.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos and values, including a focus on student well-being and academic excellence.

Preferred

  • Experience of teaching A Level sciences or OCR specifications.
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools and online resources such as Kerboodle.
  • Experience in mentoring or supporting early career teachers.
  • Involvement in extra-curricular science activities or competitions.
