Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish warm, caring relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development.
  • Support class teachers in managing daily classroom activities and promoting student independence.
  • Adapt to changing needs and assist in the smooth running of the school, including occasional physical intervention with full training provided.
  • Encourage cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development through structured learning and support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values student and staff well-being.
  • Contribute to the overall mission and goals of the school when required.
  • Assist in the delivery of a broad and creative curriculum tailored to student needs.
  • Support students in developing self-confidence and life skills essential for future independence.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE in Maths and English (minimum Grade 4 or equivalent).
  • Commitment to working with children with communication difficulties.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of students and the school.

Preferred

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experience in a special school environment.
  • Team TEACH training.
  • Experience with students on the autism spectrum.
