The Opportunity:

As a Primary Year Group Leader, you will lead a team of colleagues and shape the learning journey for young learners. This is an exciting leadership role for an experienced practitioner ready to drive excellence in teaching and learning, support professional growth, and contribute to a forward-thinking school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 8 colleagues across 3 or 4 classes.
  • Develop and deliver an engaging and creative learning journey for young learners.
  • Plan and implement weekly teaching and learning strategies in line with the school’s pedagogical approach.
  • Monitor and support pupil progress, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support and manage the professional development of teachers and teaching assistants.
  • Work closely with parents to build strong, constructive partnerships.
  • Lead on pastoral care, behaviour, and curriculum enrichment.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Primary School and ensure a consistent, creative learning experience for every child.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong educational background.
  • Proven track record of excellent classroom practice and leadership experience.
  • Experience in leading staff development and line managing colleagues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge of current educational developments, assessment practices, and primary pedagogy.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equal opportunities, and student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a subject or key initiative.
  • Confidence in coaching others through observation and constructive feedback.
  • Experience with curriculum planning and enrichment activities.
  • Familiarity with the diamond model of teaching or similar approaches.
