The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding Lead, you will play a vital role in strengthening safeguarding systems and culture across a range of schools. This strategic and operational role will allow you to influence safeguarding practice at all levels, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement high-impact safeguarding strategies across multiple schools.
  • Work closely with Headteachers, DSLs, and external agencies to ensure consistency and excellence in safeguarding practice.
  • Support and monitor the effectiveness of safeguarding systems across primary and secondary phases.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to school-based safeguarding teams.
  • Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are up-to-date, compliant, and child-centred.
  • Collaborate with the Trust’s central Executive team to align safeguarding strategies with overall improvement goals.
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding that is proactive, responsive, and inclusive.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of safeguarding practices across the trust.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in safeguarding, ideally within a multi-academy trust or similar setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of child protection legislation and best practice.
  • Experience in designing and implementing safeguarding strategies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple schools and settings.

Preferred

  • Experience in both primary and secondary education settings.
  • Background in education leadership or senior management.
  • Experience in training and mentoring DSLs or safeguarding teams.
  • Familiarity with initial teacher training or professional development programs.
