The Opportunity:
We are seeking an inspiring Saxophone and Clarinet Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons and lead the Jazz Orchestra. This role offers the chance to engage with passionate students and contribute to a vibrant musical culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality 1-1 lessons in saxophone and clarinet to students across the academic year.
- Develop individual student progress through tailored instruction and support.
- Lead and direct the Jazz Orchestra for one hour per week, fostering musical collaboration and performance.
- Encourage a love of music through a range of styles and performance opportunities.
- Collaborate with other music staff to enhance the overall music programme.
- Provide regular feedback and assess student performance effectively.
- Participate in school events and contribute to the wider music community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified music teacher with experience in saxophone and/or clarinet instruction.
- Strong musical ability and a deep understanding of instrumental technique.
- Experience in teaching at a post-16 level or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience in conducting or leading ensembles, such as a Jazz Orchestra.
- Keen interest in a range of musical genres and styles.
- Experience with performance and public engagement.
- Familiarity with evidence-based teaching practices.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate of £43.45 for saxophone and clarinet teaching.
- Additional hourly rate for Jazz Orchestra director role.
