The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support the teaching and promotion of science. This role is essential in maintaining a safe and effective learning environment for students, and will involve preparing, maintaining, and developing science resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and ensure compliance with safety standards for practical resources and equipment.
- Prepare and set up equipment and materials for lessons, including data-logging and digital tools.
- Provide safety advice and support to teachers and students during practical activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure secure storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment.
- Coordinate the use of practical resources between classes and manage stock control effectively.
- Carry out regular maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of laboratory equipment and facilities.
- Liaise with suppliers and external organizations to ensure resources meet departmental needs.
- Assist in the development and trial of new practical activities and equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in a science laboratory or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in a school environment.
- Ability to prepare and maintain a wide range of science equipment and materials.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Familiarity with CLEAPSS guidelines and risk assessment procedures.
- Experience with digital and data-logging equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
