The Opportunity:

As a School Business Manager, you will play a key role in leading the financial and operational management of a multi-site special school. This strategic position supports the school’s mission by ensuring efficient, sustainable operations and strong financial planning. The role requires a forward-thinking leader who can contribute to the school’s continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic financial planning, budget setting, and financial monitoring to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Provide expert financial guidance to senior leadership and governors.
  • Oversee administration systems and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and implement ICT strategy and MIS systems to support digital transformation.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and oversee HR systems and statutory requirements.
  • Manage facilities and estates, including PFI transition and procurement.
  • Promote value-for-money practices and efficient resource use.
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership or finance role within an educational setting.
  • Strong business acumen with expertise in financial planning and budget management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience with ICT strategy, MIS development, and digital transformation.
  • Knowledge of GDPR compliance and HR systems.
  • Ability to manage multi-site operations and facilities.

Preferred

  • Experience in a special school or similar complex educational environment.
  • Background in procurement and operational management.
  • Familiarity with PFI transition and facilities management.
  • Experience with multi-agency collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
