The Opportunity:
As a School Counsellor, you will provide vital emotional support to students, working closely with the pastoral team to help pupils thrive both personally and academically. This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, motivated, and committed to making a meaningful impact on young lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group counselling sessions to support students' emotional and social wellbeing.
- Collaborate with Heads of Year and other pastoral staff to develop and implement strategies for student support.
- Deliver targeted interventions and support plans for students facing a range of personal, academic, or social challenges.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of student interactions and progress.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, student reviews, and other pastoral events.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture through active engagement with students and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance counselling skills and knowledge.
- Support students in managing stress, building resilience, and achieving their academic and personal goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant qualification in counselling, psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or similar environment providing emotional support to students.
- Knowledge of child development and mental health issues.
- Experience with pastoral care and student wellbeing initiatives.
- Familiarity with the GDST or similar educational networks.
