Summary:

School Counsellor needed to support student well-being and mental health at a school committed to academic and personal growth.

A school dedicated to academic excellence and holistic development, with a strong emphasis on pastoral care, religious values, and the well-being of students from early years through to the Sixth Form.

The Opportunity:

As a School Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of students aged 4-18. Working closely with the Lead Counsellor and pastoral teams, you will provide guidance, support, and advice to students, staff, and parents. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and values-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, confidential counselling services to students, staff, and parents.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Counsellor and pastoral teams to ensure the well-being of all students.
  • Deliver targeted mental health interventions and support for children and young people.
  • Maintain accurate records and report on student progress and outcomes.
  • Participate actively in the extra-curricular life of the school.
  • Uphold and promote the school’s Catholic ethos and safeguarding policies.
  • Attend training and professional development opportunities to enhance practice.
  • Support the school in implementing initiatives related to youth mental health and well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • BACP or UKCP registered School Counsellor.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, and adults.
  • In-depth knowledge of child and adolescent development and youth mental health.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Willingness to engage fully with the school’s ethos and extra-curricular activities.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with Catholic values and ethos.
  • Experience in providing support to students with diverse needs.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support programmes.
