The Opportunity:

A Science Technician is needed to support the science department in delivering engaging and safe science lessons. This role plays a key part in maintaining and preparing laboratory resources, ensuring a stimulating learning environment for students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science and a commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science lessons, ensuring all experiments are conducted safely and effectively.
  • Assist teachers during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance to students.
  • Maintain and organize laboratory equipment, ensuring all items are in good working condition and properly stored.
  • Implement and uphold Health and Safety standards in the laboratory, conducting regular safety checks and risk assessments.
  • Manage inventory of materials and equipment, ordering supplies as needed to ensure the labs are well-stocked.
  • Support the development of practical science activities and experiments that enhance student learning.
  • Collaborate with science teachers to ensure the smooth running of science lessons and experiments.
  • Stay updated with current scientific practices and equipment to support continuous improvement in the science department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a laboratory or technical support role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety standards in a laboratory environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Background or knowledge of Physics.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and inventory management systems.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in science education.
