The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Science Technician to provide essential support to students and teachers in a school with an Outstanding Ofsted rating. This is a fixed-term role to cover maternity leave, offering an opportunity to contribute to a school that is dedicated to educational excellence and student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning by maintaining and preparing laboratory equipment and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and ESCC regulations in the safe handling and storage of chemicals.
  • Provide professional guidance and assistance to students and teachers on practical aspects of the science curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to support the delivery of science lessons and practical activities.
  • Conduct regular checks and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition.
  • Assist in the planning and organisation of science-related events and activities.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Levels or NVQ3 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relevant to school laboratory environments.
  • Understanding of COSHH and ESCC regulations for handling and storing chemicals.
  • Strong ICT skills for research, communication, and documentation.
  • Ability to support students and teachers with practical science curriculum needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to educational excellence and student development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
