The Opportunity:
As Second in Charge English Teacher, you will play a key role in leading and developing teaching strategies within the English department. This is a unique opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities and contribute to raising educational standards, while supporting the Head of Department and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Department in leading and developing teaching strategies and curriculum delivery
- Assist in the management and development of English staff
- Contribute to raising standards and improving outcomes for students
- Participate in professional development and training programs
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities related to English
- Support the implementation of school-wide initiatives and policies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A strong passion for English language and literature
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Organised with good time management skills
- Willingness to learn and develop leadership skills
- Relevant qualifications or training related to teaching English (e.g., PGCE or equivalent)
Preferred
- Experience in a leadership or mentoring role within education
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
- Background in curriculum development or assessment
- Familiarity with inclusive education practices
- Experience working within a large, co-educational school setting
