The Opportunity:

As Second in Charge English Teacher, you will play a key role in leading and developing teaching strategies within the English department. This is a unique opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities and contribute to raising educational standards, while supporting the Head of Department and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Department in leading and developing teaching strategies and curriculum delivery
  • Assist in the management and development of English staff
  • Contribute to raising standards and improving outcomes for students
  • Participate in professional development and training programs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities related to English
  • Support the implementation of school-wide initiatives and policies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong passion for English language and literature
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Organised with good time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop leadership skills
  • Relevant qualifications or training related to teaching English (e.g., PGCE or equivalent)

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role within education
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Background in curriculum development or assessment
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices
  • Experience working within a large, co-educational school setting
