The Opportunity:

As a SEN Lunchtime Supervisor, you will ensure the safety, engagement, and wellbeing of pupils during lunchtime. This is a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive environment that supports social interaction and independence for students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils during lunchtime, ensuring a safe and engaging environment
  • Supervise pupils in the dining hall and playground, promoting positive behaviour and interaction
  • Assist with feeding, toileting, and changing where required, with training provided
  • Support lunchtime clubs and activities that encourage social development and independence
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and senior lunchtime supervisors
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to pupils in case of minor accidents, including administering first aid where necessary
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment during meal times
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEND)
  • Compassionate, patient, and a strong team player
  • Reliable and committed to supporting children’s wellbeing
  • Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions
  • Willingness to undertake training, including personal care and the safe use of specialist equipment
  • Awareness of safeguarding policies and procedures

Preferred

  • First aid qualification
  • Experience with lunchtime supervision or similar roles
  • Experience working in a special needs setting
