The Opportunity:
As an SEN Tutor, you will provide individualised support to young people with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them achieve academic and personal growth. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact while working in a flexible and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-person, online, and hybrid Maths, English, or Science tuition to students with SEND and SEMH needs
- Plan and deliver trauma-informed lessons tailored to individual learning needs
- Provide regular feedback to students and report on their academic progress
- Collaborate with local authorities and schools to support learners from KS1 to KS5
- Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being
- Engage in continuous professional development and mentorship opportunities
- Support students with a range of needs, including MLD, SLD, and PMLD
- Stay up to date with safeguarding practices and ensure a secure learning environment
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
- 2+ years of teaching experience, preferably with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or PMLD
- Experience teaching Maths, English, or Science
- Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- 2+ professional references
Preferred
- Experience working with vulnerable young people in a trauma-informed way
- Familiarity with intervention strategies and educational support frameworks
- Experience in SENDCo or inclusion roles
- Background in therapeutic or learning support roles
