The Opportunity:

As an SEN Tutor, you will provide 1-1 tuition to young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role offers flexibility in working style and location, allowing you to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable learners while enjoying competitive pay and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed tuition in Maths, English, or Science to students with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Plan and deliver flexible, individualised lessons tailored to the specific learning requirements of each student.
  • Provide regular feedback and progress reports to ensure consistent student development and engagement.
  • Support students across a range of ages, from KS1 to KS5, in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and schools to ensure alignment with educational goals and student needs.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, adhering to safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and mentorship opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Stay up to date with best practices in SEND and SEMH support to ensure the highest standard of teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of teaching experience, ideally with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD learners
  • Experience in providing trauma-informed teaching and support
  • Familiarity with teaching Maths, English, and/or Science
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment
  • Enhanced DBS check and 2+ professional references

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with a range of additional educational needs
  • Experience in SENDCo, LSA, or intervention specialist roles
  • Familiarity with therapeutic and learning support frameworks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly across in-person, online, and hybrid formats
