The Opportunity:

As an SEN Tutor, you will provide personalized support to students with special educational needs, helping them build confidence, self-belief, and academic progress. This role is ideal for passionate educators who want to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and impactful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group tutoring sessions in a student’s home or at a school.
  • Create bespoke lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster a positive and trusting relationship with students to enhance their self-esteem and motivation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to support best practices in SEN education.
  • Collaborate with education consultants to ensure high-quality tuition and support.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK.
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong subject knowledge in the subject(s) you intend to tutor.
  • University qualification or currently studying towards one, along with A-levels.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) and autism spectrum conditions (ASC).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience with the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) or similar initiatives.
  • Flexibility and good availability for in-person tutoring, including daytime hours.
  • Experience with creating individual learning plans (ILPs) for students with SEMH needs.
  • Background in teaching English as a second language (ESOL) or similar areas.
