The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Tutor to support students with special educational needs and those on the autism spectrum. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students through personalized and engaging tuition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group tuition to students with special educational needs and ASC.
  • Create bespoke lesson plans tailored to each student’s unique learning needs.
  • Build trust and self-esteem through a warm, empathetic, and student-centred approach.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress.
  • Attend training sessions on the school’s approach to SEN and safeguarding.
  • Ensure all lessons are engaging, structured, and aligned with the student’s academic and emotional needs.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and feedback.
  • Support students in developing both academic and life skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Strong subject knowledge in the subject(s) you tutor.
  • A university qualification or currently studying for one, with A-levels.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) and/or ASC.
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list.
  • Two relevant professional references and a parent reference.

Preferred

  • Experience with the National Tutoring Programme (NTP).
  • Availability for in-person tutoring during the daytime.
  • Experience with students who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Familiarity with creating and implementing individual learning plans (ILPs).
