The Opportunity:

As a SENCo, you will be responsible for leading and developing inclusive practices across the school, ensuring that all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) have the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the school’s SEND provision, ensuring it meets the needs of all pupils.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to embed inclusive practices across the school.
  • Support staff through coaching, training, and collaboration to improve teaching approaches for pupils with SEND.
  • Collaborate with families and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Use data and insight to evaluate the impact of SEND provision and drive improvement.
  • Ensure pupils with SEND have full access to the curriculum and school life.
  • Influence and shape whole-school strategies for inclusion and equity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS.
  • Holding or working towards the National Award for SEN Coordination.
  • Experience in leading SEND provision in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of inclusion and equity in education.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with pupils, staff, and families.

Preferred

  • Experience in strategic leadership and whole-school improvement.
  • Familiarity with multi-agency collaboration and external support services.
  • Experience with data analysis and evaluation of educational outcomes.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
