The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative SEND Lead Teacher to help shape the future of “The Maple,” a new Additional Resources Provision for students with complex learning needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead curriculum development and support a team of dedicated professionals in delivering high-quality education and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a tailored curriculum for students with exceptional learning needs, including those with social and communication needs and Autism.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of “The Maple,” ensuring high standards of teaching and support.
- Support colleagues in delivering effective lessons and interventions in line with individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Collaborate with managers and senior leaders to ensure best practices and continuous improvement.
- Forge strong professional relationships with parents, external agencies, and members of the school community.
- Provide guidance and support to students across the school when required, in line with the Pathway approach to inclusion.
- Participate in staff development and leadership opportunities, including professional learning sessions.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and student well-being.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in SEND provision.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver inclusive curricula.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in working with students with complex learning needs, including those with Autism and social communication challenges.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a team or department.
- Familiarity with EHCPs and specialist interventions.
- Experience with ASD or SEMH support.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and innovative approaches to education.
